Top 5 Dumb Things You Do When The Power Is Out

Sooz is back with a new top 5 for you:

There was a scheduled power outage for several hours the other day which only served to make me feel stupid again and again.  And at least three more times after that.  Here are the five dumbest things you do while the power is out even though you KNOW the power is out!

5: Walk into a dark room and flip on the light switch.

4: Check the time on the cable box to see how much longer you have to endure this life on the prairie.

3: Attempt to use the desktop computer since wifi is down and your iPad won't work.

2: Decide that since you're living in the dark ages you might as well call someone if you can't email. Too bad the house phones are all inexplicably connected to the electricity...somehow.

1: Give up on everything else and get a nice cold glass of water from the dispenser in the fridge. Ugh.

What dumb things have you done duting a blackout?  Share with us in the comments, and don't forget to check out our Facebook page (and like it if you like us!).

Great Top 5 Sooz!  A few years back the East Side went out because someone drove their car into a pole that had a main transformer on it.  That was bad enough, but it was also during an August heat wave when it hit 104. So there went the AC, the fans, etc. During the hours the power was out, I proceeded to forget and tried to turn the TV on (like you said to see how much longer it would go on), turn a fan or two on, plug in my laptop after the battery died and generally be stupid the whole night.  I blamed the heat.  lol

  2. I know you hate the heat (http://kooztop5.blogspot.com/2012/06/top-5-reasons-i-hate-summer.html) and I am very greatful it wasn't hot when this happened. Remember the huge northeast power outage years ago when it was hot? I think trying to sleep in the heat was worse than having to walk home from Manhattan!

  3. Don't forget a classic: Create another child, because, what else is there to do?

  4.  I would always be surprised when I opened the fridge and the light inside didn't go on.
